About the turntables
A pair of Pioneer PLX-500s is the simplest way into proper two-deck vinyl mixing. Each deck borrows the layout of the PLX-1000, so the start/stop button, tempo slider and tonearm sit exactly where a DJ expects them, and the S-shaped tonearm with a standard headshell mount takes any cartridge you already own.
The direct drive motors deliver 1.6 kg/cm of starting torque, enough to reach 33 rpm in about a second and to hold pitch steady while you cue and mix. The plus or minus 8% tempo range covers beat matching, and the three speeds (33, 45 and 78 rpm) handle a home record collection as happily as a crate of 12 inch singles.
Built-in phono preamps with a rear phono/line switch mean the pair connects to a DJ mixer, a hi-fi amp or a pair of active monitors with no extra boxes. The USB outputs let you record vinyl directly to a computer, and both decks are rekordbox DVS compatible with control records.
Add a two-channel mixer and you have a complete starter vinyl setup.
