About the turntable
The Pioneer PLX-500 is the entry point into proper direct drive turntables. It borrows the layout of the PLX-1000, so the start/stop button, tempo slider and tonearm sit exactly where a DJ expects them, and the S-shaped tonearm with a standard headshell mount takes any cartridge you already own.
The direct drive motor delivers 1.6 kg/cm of starting torque, enough to reach 33 rpm in about a second and to hold pitch steady while you cue and mix. The plus or minus 8% tempo range covers beat matching, and the three speeds (33, 45 and 78 rpm) mean it handles a home record collection as happily as a crate of 12 inch singles.
A built-in phono preamp with a rear phono/line switch means it connects to a DJ mixer, a hi-fi amp or a pair of active monitors with no extra boxes. The USB output lets you record vinyl directly to a computer, and the deck is rekordbox DVS compatible with a control record.
Ideal as a first deck for vinyl DJing, a second turntable to pair with a mixer, or a straightforward, solid player for listening at home.
