About the Pioneer XDJ RR
The Pioneer XDJ RR is an all-in-one DJ system that offers a professional club-style layout in a more compact, affordable package. Designed for DJs who want the familiarity of CDJs and a DJM-style mixer without needing a laptop, the XDJ RR strikes a balance between portability and functionality. It features two USB-driven decks and a 2-channel mixer, running entirely off rekordbox, which means you can plug in your USB stick and perform directly, no laptop needed.
The XDJ RR’s 7-inch colour screen gives you waveform displays, track info and browsing controls that mimic the CDJ-2000NXS2, helping prepare bedroom DJs for club setups. The jog wheels are responsive, with decent heft and feel. They’re not full-size CDJ jogs, but they’re larger than those on entry-level controllers and feel more professional.
Each deck has 4 performance pads (instead of 8 like on the XDJ-RX2), but they still offer hot cue, beat loop, slip loop and beat jump modes. You get essential FX via the Sound Color FX and Beat FX sections, including filters, echo, reverb and more, all lifted from Pioneer’s pro-level gear. It also has a mic input, booth and master outputs, and two USB ports, so the next DJ can plug in while you’re still playing.
What makes the XDJ RR particularly appealing is its lightweight and slim design, making it easy to transport for gigs, house parties or mobile setups. It’s a solid option for DJs who want a reliable standalone unit that can also function as a rekordbox controller when connected to a computer. It’s a great step up from beginner gear and a stepping stone toward club-ready equipment.

Pioneer XDJ RR FAQ
Does the Pioneer XDJ RR need a laptop?
No. Prepare your tracks in rekordbox, export them to a USB stick, plug it into the XDJ RR and play. You only need a laptop if you want to run rekordbox dj live, and the RR works as a plug and play controller for that too.
What is the difference between the XDJ RR and the XDJ RX2?
Both are two channel rekordbox all-in-ones. The XDJ RX2 adds a touchscreen, 8 performance pads per deck and bigger jog wheels, in a larger and heavier unit. The XDJ RR keeps the same club-style workflow in a lighter, more affordable package. For the newest layout, look at the XDJ RX3.
Is the XDJ RR good for beginners?
Yes. It teaches the same layout you’ll find on CDJs and DJM mixers in clubs, without buying separate players and a mixer. Plenty of DJs learn on an RR and move up to full-size players later.
Can I part exchange my old controller for an XDJ RR?
Yes. Get a figure on our part exchange page and the value comes off your purchase, or sell outright through the sell your equipment page.
