About the mixer
The DJM S9 is a professional two-channel battle mixer built with scratch DJs, turntablists, and Serato DJ users in mind. It's known for its durability, intuitive layout, and performance-focused features, making it a staple in both competitive DJ circles and live performance setups.
At the heart of the DJM S9 is Pioneer’s Magvel Fader Pro crossfader, designed for high performance and long life. The fader is fully customizable — you can adjust the feeling, the cut lag, and the resistance to match your scratching style. This level of control gives DJs precision and comfort when performing fast, intricate cuts.
The mixer features large, backlit RGB performance pads — eight per channel — which trigger hot cues, loops, rolls, slicer, and other functions directly in Serato DJ Pro. The pads are velocity-sensitive, allowing expressive finger drumming and more dynamic control of your sets. Above the pads are independent play/cue buttons, helping keep your performance workflow clean and intuitive.
The DJM S9 also includes two built-in USB sound cards, meaning two DJs can connect simultaneously for back-to-back sets or seamless changeovers. Each channel can be switched between USB A and B, so you can easily transition between laptops without stopping the music.
A major highlight of the S9 is its extensive effects section. There are six dedicated Beat FX buttons and two FX banks for Serato’s software effects, all assignable to either channel. The hardware FX paddle switches (inspired by classic battle mixers) let you momentarily or permanently activate effects, ideal for live improvisation and creative transitions.
From an audio standpoint, the DJM S9 features high-quality 24-bit/48kHz audio conversion and low-latency operation. It also includes an independent mic input with dedicated EQ and FX, as well as a range of input/output options — including phono/line inputs for turntables and CDJs, booth and master outputs, and balanced XLR connections for club systems.
Despite newer models like the DJM S7 and S11 entering the market, the DJM S9 remains highly respected and sought-after for its rugged build, fast workflow, and tight integration with Serato DJ Pro. It offers everything a battle DJ or performance-based digital DJ needs, with minimal distractions and maximum control over your set.
