About the speaker

The Yamaha HS8 is the biggest of the HS series and a fixture in studios all over the world. The white woofer traces its lineage back to the legendary NS-10, the speaker mix engineers swore by for decades, and the HS8 carries the same philosophy: honest, flat sound rather than flattery. If a mix sounds good on these, it will translate to club systems, car stereos and earbuds alike.

With its 8 inch woofer and 120W of bi-amped power, the HS8 reaches down to 38Hz, so bass-heavy genres like house, techno and hip-hop are represented properly without needing a subwoofer in most rooms. The low end stays controlled rather than boomy, which makes level and EQ decisions much easier.

The rear panel keeps things practical. Balanced XLR and TRS inputs connect straight to an audio interface, mixer or DJ setup, and the Room Control and High Trim switches let you pull back the low end when the speaker sits near a wall or adjust the top end to taste. The cabinet is built to damp resonance, so what you hear is the driver, not the box.

For DJs and producers with a bit more space, the HS8 is the pick of the range: loud enough for a proper practice room, accurate enough to mix on, and built to last for years.
