About the mixer
The MODEL 1.4 takes everything that made the six channel MODEL 1 a modern classic and condenses it into a four channel unit that fits a home studio or a flight case. Same designers, Richie Hawtin and Andy Rigby-Jones, same fully analogue signal path and balanced main mix bus.
Each channel has a 60mm fader, a Sculpt filter that cuts up to 20dB or boosts up to 8dB anywhere from 70Hz to 7kHz, and Contour high-pass and low-pass filters for shaping a track into the mix without a kill EQ.
Every input has a Drive control that pushes the analogue preamp into gentle saturation, adding weight to drums and basslines without an external processor.
The master section carries a three-band EQ with asymmetric cut and boost, a resonant master high-pass and low-pass filter, and a two-band booth EQ. Two stereo returns bring outboard effects back into the mix.
The Dual Cue system gives two DJs independent headphone mixes for back-to-back sets, and Mixer Link joins a MODEL 1.4 to a MODEL 1 for a 10 channel live rig.
Connections cover two high-performance phono preamps for turntables, line inputs, Tascam DB25 balanced I/O, XLR master outputs, a quarter-inch booth output and a front-mounted record out.
At 368mm by 248mm it is the most portable way to get the PLAYdifferently sound, ideal for techno and house DJs who tour, or anyone who wants MODEL 1 tone at home.
