About the controller
The Pioneer DDJ XP2 is a powerful performance pad controller built to expand the creative potential of DJs using either rekordbox or Serato DJ Pro. Designed with versatility in mind, it’s a solid choice for DJs looking to add finger-drumming, hot cue juggling, and enhanced FX control to their setup — whether using turntables, CDJs, or controllers.
At its core are 32 velocity-sensitive RGB pads, split into two banks of 16, offering tight responsiveness and full customisation. These pads are ideal for triggering hot cues, loops, beat jumps, samples, and even key shifts, depending on the software used. The layout is intuitive and matches well with both rekordbox and Serato workflows, making it easy to adapt no matter your preferred platform.
The DDJ XP2 also includes a dedicated FX section, with robust slide FX strips that allow you to trigger and manipulate effects with finger swipes. This makes live performance more tactile and expressive. You also get looping controls, transport buttons, and mode switches, all laid out in a clean and minimal design that mirrors Pioneer’s club-style aesthetic.
What sets the XP2 apart from its predecessor (the DDJ-XP1) is its full compatibility with both Serato DJ Pro and rekordbox DJ, making it one of the most flexible pad controllers available. It can serve as a bridge between different DJ ecosystems, which is especially valuable for DJs who work across multiple software platforms.
The build quality is solid, with a durable top plate and non-slip rubber feet — compact enough to slot neatly next to CDJs or on a DJ booth without hogging space. While it doesn't include a built-in audio interface, its role is purely to enhance performance capabilities.
The DDJ XP2 is a smart investment for DJs looking to take their sets to the next level creatively. Whether you're performing live mashups, integrating acapellas and samples, or just want more hands-on control over FX, it's a serious tool that adds depth to your performances — without the footprint of a full mixer or controller.
