It builds on Pioneer’s popular DDJ-400, adding fresh features and broader software compatibility while keeping the layout clean and user-friendly.
One of the biggest strengths of the FLX4 is its compatibility with multiple DJ platforms. It works natively with rekordbox and Serato DJ Lite right out of the box, and you can upgrade to Serato DJ Pro for more advanced features. Importantly, it also supports streaming directly from services like TIDAL, Beatport Streaming, and SoundCloud Go+ when used with rekordbox, giving you access to millions of tracks without building a massive library first.
The controller keeps Pioneer’s club-standard layout, so it feels familiar if you decide to step up to pro gear later. You get two large jog wheels, dedicated play/cue buttons, loop controls, and eight performance pads per deck that can trigger hot cues, beat jumps, sample playback, and more. The mixer section has a straightforward 3-band EQ on each channel and high/low-pass filter knobs, making it easy to craft smooth transitions.
A standout feature of the DDJ FLX4 is the new Smart Mixing technology. It includes Smart Fader, which automatically balances volume, bass levels, and BPM when you slide the crossfader or upfaders — perfect for beginners still learning to beatmatch. There's also Smart CFX, which combines multiple effects into single knob movements, helping DJs create build-ups and breakdowns easily without memorizing FX chains.
Another practical touch is the USB audio output for microphone input. This means your mic audio is sent directly to your streaming or recording software, solving a common issue with budget controllers where the mic doesn’t get included in the main output. It's particularly helpful for live streaming or recording vocal intros and shoutouts.
