About the speaker

The VM-80 is the flagship of Pioneer DJ’s monitor range: an 8 inch speaker built for DJs who want booth-level energy at home without giving up accuracy. It comes from the same company as the CDJs and DJMs it will spend its life next to, and it is voiced accordingly.

The 8 inch woofer delivers the kind of low end you can feel, which is exactly what you want when practising mixes: beatmatching by ear is far easier when the kick has real weight. The Vortex Bass Accelerator port keeps that bass controlled rather than flabby, and the aluminium front baffle stiffens the cabinet so the sound stays clean as the volume climbs.

Like the rest of the VM range, the rear panel carries a DSP EQ with 16-position low and high dials. With an 8 inch speaker in a normal room, that room tuning genuinely matters: it lets you pull back the bass build-up from walls and corners instead of just living with it. Balanced XLR and TRS inputs hook straight into a booth output or interface, and auto standby handles the power between sessions.
